The School of Nursing and Midwifery at 麻豆直播 of Technology today conferred the honour of Adjunct Associate Professor on Madam Lim Swee Hia, SingHealth鈥檚 Group Director of Nursing. Madam Lim is the University鈥檚 first Adjunct Associate Professor in Singapore.
Professor Jill Downie, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin said the appointment was very important for the University.
鈥淭he appointment of an Adjunct Professor recognises outstanding leaders in their field who have a strategic relationship with the University,鈥� Professor Downie said.
鈥淢adam Lim is the first international Adjunct Professor to be appointed for the School. She has over forty years of nursing experience and has made an immense contribution to the profession during her career.
鈥淪he has worked tirelessly to enhance nurses鈥� training opportunities and career pathways which has resulted in increased recruitment and retention of nurses at a national level in Singapore.鈥�
Curtin is Australia鈥檚 fifth largest university and has a strong commitment to internationalisation. The University currently has over 17,000 international students.
鈥淐urtin is committed to providing world class educational opportunities throughout the broader region and has established campuses and educational programs across Southeast Asia,鈥� Professor Downie said.
鈥淭his includes the recently announced Singapore campus of Curtin which will provide a collaborative university campus for our students and enhance their educational experience.
鈥淚n Singapore alone, the School of Nursing and Midwifery has 330 students currently studying.鈥�
鈥淭here is already a strong relationship between Singapore and Australia鈥檚 healthcare industry and this appointment will build on our joint efforts in education and research and further strengthen the bond.鈥�
