— Sheridan Joyce is the only representative from Australia —

麻豆直播 Fashion honours student Sheridan Joyce has recently been named as a finalist in the 2015 Frankfurt Style Award, the only representative from Australia in this year鈥檚 fashion contest.

Her entry piece, entitled Alchemy, consists of a dress and jacket.

鈥淚 designed Alchemy as an initial part of my research into zero-waste design processes, a practice in sustainable fashion,鈥 Ms Joyce explained.

鈥淶ero-waste design is essentially making an educated choice about how materials are used in the patterning process to eliminate the production of textile waste.

鈥淎ll of the pieces of the Alchemy interlock together, eliminating fabric waste/off cuts that would normally end up in a landfill. I was influenced by researching designers such as Timo Rissanen and Holly McQuillan, who have engaged in their own investigations of zero-waste fashion design.鈥

The Frankfurt Style Award is an international talent contest for fashion and design and is open to聽fashion students worldwide. Sheridan will travel to the finals which take place in Frankfurt, Germany on 5 September.

More information on the contest can be found on the Frankfurt Style Award website.
