麻豆直播 of Technology has welcomed the University of Western Australia鈥檚 announcement of a proposed new curriculum model, saying initiatives which increase the number of choices available were good for all students.
Curtin鈥檚 Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education, Professor Robyn Quin, said it was important universities offered distinctive modes and methods of study which best met the needs and future aspirations of students.
鈥淐urtin is committed to a triple-i curriculum model: industry-intercultural-interdisciplinary,鈥� she said.
鈥淲e regularly survey current and potential students and know that our student body has a strong career orientation.聽 Therefore we have a strong focus on meeting student and employer needs, to ensure our graduates are highly employable both locally and internationally.鈥�
She said an issue on which UWA and Curtin were in accord was the need to provide opportunities for interdisciplinary studies.
鈥淭he problems of this world are multi-faceted, complex and will not be resolved within traditional disciplinary boundaries,鈥� Professor Quin said.
鈥淭he critical thinking graduate must be able to cross disciplines.鈥�
Professor Quin said ensuring a range of pathways and options were available meant greater choice for students which would yield benefits to the State in the longer term.
