Mr James, the Chief Economist for CommSec, has commenced a three-year appointment that will see him share his industry knowledge, skills and experience with Curtin students and researchers.

Mr James said he was looking forward to working with Western Australian students during the State鈥檚 unique economic period.

鈥淭he Western Australian economy is incredibly strong and is currently out-performing all other Australian states,鈥 Mr James said.

鈥淲estern Australian companies are attracting strong global investment.

鈥淢any of the students at CBS are going to finish their studies and go on to play major roles in shaping the future of these companies.

鈥淚n saying that, the next five years are going to test Western Australia鈥檚 seemingly unshakeable economy and I look forward to working with Curtin鈥檚 bright minds to share some of the knowledge I have gained over my 30 years working in banking, finance and journalism.鈥

Mr James also offered some advice for Western Australian investors.

鈥淐ertainly the world is experiencing massive changes with a debt crisis raging in Europe and emerging nations (led by China) taking over leadership of the global economy.

鈥淪o the simple message for investors is to stay alert. Pessimism can swiftly change to optimism in the current environment and Western Australian investors need to embrace the opportunities that arise.鈥

During his tenure as Adjunct Professor, Mr James will assist with student engagement programs, present public lectures and advise 麻豆直播 on international and domestic economic issues.
