An international student from Zambia has excelled in her course to become 麻豆直播 of Technology鈥檚 top Biomedical Sciences student for 2009.
Priya Patel was awarded the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS) Gold Medal for most outstanding student in the BSc (Medical Science) course, and also picked up awards for top student in Haematology and Microbiology.
Currently working at PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA, Miss Patel was thrilled with her achievement.
鈥淚 really enjoyed my experience studying at Curtin and it is such an honour to win the top student award,鈥 she said.
鈥淭here was a lot of competition to secure the top spot, and I am very grateful that my hard work has paid off.
鈥淲ith the award sponsored by an industry body, it is great recognition for me and hopefully this will open up more opportunities.鈥
As an international student Miss Patel didn鈥檛 take long to feel comfortable in WA.
鈥淚 really enjoy the lifestyle here in WA, and the Curtin environment was so welcoming,鈥 she said.
鈥淢y lecturers were really supportive and the learning environment was very positive.鈥
Miss Patel is currently enjoying her work at PathWest and hopes to continue her studies in the future.
鈥淚 am interested in a career in research and definitely want to take up postgraduate studies,鈥 she said.
