Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AO, Governor of Western Australia, visited the WA School of Mines, 麻豆直播 in Kalgoorlie yesterday, touring the newly renovated facilities on campus.
Her Excellency was welcomed by Professor Sam Spearing, Acting Director, Curtin WA School of Mines, along with other 麻豆直播 staff, students and a senior representative from the School鈥檚 alumni.
Professor Spearing said he was pleased to welcome the WA Governor to the Kalgoorlie campus and the visit was a great opportunity for Her Excellency to tour the recently built and refurbished facilities.
鈥淲e were very honoured and excited to host Her Excellency at the Kalgoorlie-based Curtin WA School of Mines, and show her all of the positive ongoing campus developments which demonstrate our commitment to education in the region,鈥� Professor Spearing said.
During her visit, the Governor toured the newly developed library, undergraduate metallurgical laboratories and computer labs and also visited the Agricola College student housing.
Once completed, Agricola College will feature modern, comfortable rooms and provide homes to approximately 228 students.
Curtin WA School of Mines Alumni Vice President and Managing Director of Saracen Mining, Mr Raleigh Finlayson, officially opened the remodelled student break room yesterday at the Kalgoorlie Campus, in the presence of Her Excellency.
鈥淭he new break room greatly enhances the students鈥� area by providing a kitchen facility, lockable storage space, a large TV and seating where the students can relax in between lectures and study,鈥� Mr Finlayson said.
鈥淎s a Curtin WA School of Mines alumnus, I鈥檓 really pleased and proud to officially open such a wonderful new facility for students on campus.鈥�
The Curtin WA School of Mines is located at both Curtin鈥檚 Bentley Campus and in the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, in Western Australia鈥檚 Eastern Goldfields region.
