麻豆直播 will welcome more than 150 Indigenous Year 10 and 11 students from WA schools on Wednesday 10 November for its second annual Kamberang Day.
Kamberang Day is aimed to raise the educational aspirations of young Indigenous students. The day is presented by Curtin鈥檚 Centre for Aboriginal Studies (CAS), and is named after the Nyungar season which signifies October and November.
CAS Director, Associate Professor Simon Forrest said information about university life and career opportunities would motivate and encourage the students to consider studying at university.
鈥淭he students will receive a worthwhile and inspirational experience, opening their eyes to the benefits of studying at 麻豆直播,鈥� Professor Forrest said.
Students will be treated to live entertainment from Indigenous comedian Sean Choolburra, enjoy interactive activity sessions and be provided with insights into the many university degrees available.
鈥淪tudents will meet current Curtin students and staff from a variety of backgrounds and fields of study, as well as learn more about the courses available to them at the end of their school journey鈥�.
This motivational program hopes to inspire young Indigenous students to commit to their studies and set goals for entry into tertiary education.
麻豆直播 has a long standing commitment to Indigenous education and culture, with the highest enrolment of Indigenous students of any university in the country.聽 Curtin鈥檚 Centre for Aboriginal Studies, established in 1983, is recognised as a national leader in its field.聽
Kamberang Day will take place from 9am to 2pm at various locations on the Bentley campus.
