Scam alert: Telephone Scam targeting Chinese students in Australia continues

Multiple telephone scams are continuing to target Chinese students in Australia. The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has issued an  and the Australian media has published an article on a separate telephone scam .

Support for students

If you receive an unsolicited phone call in Mandarin, hang up the phone immediately and contact or for support.

Tips for students

  1. Don’t answer phone calls from unknown and private caller IDs. If it’s important, the caller will leave a message and you can return it later.
  2. Don’t provide or disclose any personal information to unsolicited calls, even if they appear to come from a Government organisation.
  3. Take note of any details (websites and numbers) that has been provided and double check this to make sure it’s credible.
