Major overview
This double major in Accounting and Taxation is designed for students who want high-level knowledge of taxation, for high-level careers in government, professional firms and business organisations.
The Accounting major will give you a strong foundation in accounting, auditing, taxation and areas of business law and financial management. You will learn how to apply this knowledge in a variety of accounting contexts.
You’ll also learn how to collate and communicate information about the financial performance of organisations, and apply your expertise to inform business decision-making.
In the Taxation major, you will gain a deep understanding of taxation laws and practice in Australia and internationally.
You’ll learn about income tax, goods and services tax, fringe benefits tax, state taxes, international tax, tax administration, and implications of tax structures. You’ll then apply your skills in immersive settings.

You’ll then apply your skills in immersive settings. You could volunteer or intern at the Curtin Tax Clinic – helping vulnerable people navigate the tax system and advocating for their needs – or study the tax systems of a different country during an overseas study tour.
