Our campus streets are not places to zoom through. They’re busy roads shared between drivers, cyclists, scooters, pedestrians, and delivery vehicles.

That’s why our speed limits are lower – it creates a safer environment for everyone.

Did you know?

  • A small choice – like slowing down – can make a big difference.
  • At 30 km/h, there’s a 90% chance a pedestrian will survive if hit. At 50km/h, there’s a 90% chance the pedestrian will die.
  • Most pedestrian deaths occur in 50-60km/h zones. Slower speed = quicker stop = less close calls.
  • Driving 1 km at 50 km/h vs. 30 km/h saves only 48 seconds. Is it really worth the risk when travelling from our very south to north-most entrance is circa 1.7km?

So, what should you do?

  • Driving? Stick to the speed limit. Look out for people and bikes.
  • Cycling or on a scooter? Go slow. Pedestrians have priority.
  • Walking? Look around, not down at your phone.

Whether you’re heading to class, grabbing lunch, or making a delivery, we all share the responsibility to keep the space safe.

Let’s look out for each other and slow down. You’re not the only one on the road.
